ABOUT MR. TONEY
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Mr. Toney has successfully represented clients in a wide range of military law matters. He has interest and experience in matters such officer and enlisted promotions, whistleblower reprisals, investigations, administrative discharge boards and other separations, physical disability evaluation, Army CID "titling" actions, and the correction of military records generally. Mr. Toney also provides aggressive representation for military personnel and former military personnel requiring non-emergency federal court action. He has a number of active federal court cases involving the violation of military regulations and federal statutes.
Mr. Toney received the Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he was a member of the first class of cadets to be commissioned through the Army ROTC program, in 1983. He graduated first in his class (with highest honors) from the School of Law, University of East Anglia, one of England’s leading law schools. Mr. Toney continued his legal studies by earning a master's degree by research from the Faculty of Law, Oxford University, where he was a member of Corpus Christi College. He was Visiting Lecturer at the School of Law, University of East Anglia, and the Faculty of Law, University of Trier, Germany.
Mr. Toney’s foremost objective is to be a zealous and effective advocate for his clients. His secondary objective is to advocate for needed changes in the law to benefit military personnel and veterans generally. He has actively promoted changes to the procedures and practices of the boards for the correction of military records through public writings and presentations and the legislative process.
Mr. Toney is a member of the Advisory Board to the National Institute of Military Justice.
Mr. Toney is admitted to practice law in the State of New York. He does not practice state law of any type, and does not give advice regarding state law matters in any state.

Mr. Toney is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys skiing, mountaineering, cycling, fishing, and backpacking.
